I am missing IMC! Can’t wait to listen to all the papers I couldn’t make it to when recordings go up. I love that the hybrid format allows me to do that!!

Gale R. Owen-Crocker – MEDATS

Now, if you are wanting to read some good work on #BayeuxTapestry, here's a thread. By the way, the pun wasn't intentional on Wednesday and isn't now. I'm not that funny. First up: Gale Owen-Crocker, textile historian par excellence www.medats.org.uk/officer/gale... #medievalsky 1/

Vikings: Warriors of No Nation

The Duchy of Normandy was founded #OnThisDay in 911.

The β€˜racially pure’ #Vikings of stereotype were, in fact, cultural chameleons adopting local habits, languages, and religions.

I really bought that for the gorgeous edition (and I couldn’t resist the price), now I’ve got a matching pair!

Yeah I wasn’t too impressed by the prices at the second hand fair πŸ₯² my most expensive book came from there (the silk one), and I found a cluster of music books I was interested in but they were up to Β£50 each. I did get lucky with the Eileen power folio for a fiver though.

Three of them were free from the publishers’ fair πŸ˜… VERY pleased about scoring the Medieval Latin anthology! Bloomsbury and De Gruyter were doing freebies and CUP’s card machine broke in my favour 😹

Over 60 medieval manuscript fragments from St John's Library's collection have been uploaded to Digital Bodleian πŸ₯³ These medieval fragments were removed from college library books and are now known collectively as MS 235. You can view them here: digital.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/partners/st-... (a 🧡)

β€˜Momentous occasion’: how Bayeux Museum finally said yes to tapestry loan Said to be too fragile to move in 2018, tests including a dress rehearsal, and a renovation have led to a change of heart

This article explains some of the difficulties of moving the Bayeux Tapestry and how they've been mitigated. I'll still be holding my breath. #medievalsky #BayeuxTapestry www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Incontrovertible evidence, now, of *police* investigating families supporting their kids with gender affirming healthcare in the UK. For trying to do the best for your child, following best practice in most of the world, here you get a visit from the police.

Thank you, Wes Streeting.

Remembering Chevalière d'Éon for Pride. A transgender woman in the 1700s who was also a spy and who turned double agent, extorted an entire monarchy to get her gender marker changed, and lived her life as a woman in a time when such was thought impossible.

We have always been here.
