Since September I have been begging my Y11s to read for pleasure.

Imagine my delight this week when one of them excitedly burst out mid-lesson "My next set of books is being delivered today!"

Couldn't even be mad that she'd checked her phone.

Me (WAY too proud): *explains*
Student: "Well that's just stupid; I don't even tan."

Student turns up: jacket under blazer, no shirt. Send him to get a shirt. Comes back. Sits. "This isn't my blazer! My phone is in my pocket with no password!" cue pandemonium from Y9. Student rips open lining of blazer to look at the phone in there to see whose it is.

It's his. It's his blazer.

"Miss! He's trying to chew my ear!"
Forgot I was teaching year 9s and not 9-year-olds for a minute there 🙄🤣
