When the education system demands things that aren't developmentally appropriate, you end up creating issues not solving them. Young children are not meant to be static for long periods of time. If we insist they are, we create 'behaviour problems' that are actually just children behaving normally.

I remember during the January schools lockdown, we were told that only the children who attended nursery would be funded. Treatment of EY settings was appalling.

Seeing various articles this morning about issues for children 'starting school' but 95% plus of children are now in settings (including school based ones) way before they start Reception. Their needs are their needs, developmentally. What's required imo is flexibility in curriculum and approach.

I love The Bridge Theatre and Nicholas Hytner has done some most excellent productions of Shakespeare there. Highly recommend Richard II 😊

Spent a few half term days in Budapest. Beautiful city. Wish we’d booked for longer.

Never seen a professional production of a Greek play before - so this “first” promoted a lot of discussion! Massive fan of Indira Varma who always delivers, but Rami Malek had real presence and unravelled marvellously. I really loved the music/dance elements.

I’m in awe!

It’s amazing that so much balance has been achieved in the composition. It’s really very beautiful as well as being full of life.

I think things took a turn when funding was reduced for the health visiting service - can’t remember how long ago that was 😱 So much has been set back by the loss of Sure Start too.

And the supermarkets are responding to local needs - being flexible and offering school hours shifts and term time working.
