Don't get me wrong, other parties should have clear plans and those plans should be critiqued. I want strong policy from the parties I support. I really hope more scrutiny is placed on the coalition parties this upcoming election.

Because I recall their alternative to three waters being "we'll see after the election"

Their environmental ideas have been "oh someone might invent something to help" I personally don't feel comfortable leaving the climate change up to chance.

Does this government realise how little legitimacy it has to critise other parties for not having a plan? Because the only plan they appear to have is to repeal everything.

What were their plans and solutions before the election? #nzpol

Hon Kieran McAnulty: So which is it: the Government isn't working on legislation to shift homeless people from the CBDs, or they are considering legislation to shift homeless people from the CBDs?

Hon CHRIS BISHOP: The member asked whether or not the Government was developing legislation. The Government is not, but, as I say, we are looking at a range of things in order to clean up the CBD. [Interruption]

"We are looking at a range of things in order to clean up the CBD" is a particularly putrid way to answer whether or not you're going to ban homeless people from city centres. They're people not garbage. #nzpol

I've had parents call me exasperated that their child's education has turned into an eternal marae visit with karakia before every class and Mรฃori words littered through their maths questions. It is possible to respect and value the place of the Mรฃori language and culture without artificially inserting it into every part of life.
We're fixing it. As announced this morning, the Education and Training Act will be changed so that School Boards will no longer be required to "give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including by working to ensure that its plans, policies, and local curriculum reflect local tikanga Mรฃori, matauranga Mรฃori, and te ao Mรฃori"
The changes will be introduced to Parliament this afternoon and passed before the end of the year. It is part of ACT's Coalition Agreement to make Educational Achievement the primary objective of school boards. Our future needs every taxpayer dollar spent on education to realise its full value.
Focusing education on actual achievement is a critical part of that. Thank you to everyone who's supported ACT in this work.

This is the intent. Forget whatever flowery words Erica uses. They want your child growing up in a NZ that is blind to its history. Thatโ€™s not learning, itโ€™s indoctrination.

Does Erica Stanford have connections to school resource books, because she sure does think they'll solve everything.

It is patronizing to act as if school books in reo absolves their actions against maori language, culture, history, ect, in our curriculum

Anne Salmond: Academic freedom and its enemies In NZ there are chilling moves towards illiberal democracy. While they are being strongly resisted so far, political leaders and others must wake up.

Govt to cut #JobSeeker benefit for 18 & 19 year olds whoโ€™s parents earn over $65,000, even if the teens have a disability or health condition. With #CostOfLiving & the job shortage theyโ€™re cranking up stress levels to 11, all to meet a target.
