I truly fell in love with this book when I was made to read it. It’s beauty and prose sticks well into a nice corner of my mind, this edition with this cover in particular.

Hate reading Garners Modern English Usage to reminisce about the points taken off of my essays in 8th grade because my teacher was illiterate

***Language learning communities online. They create hierarchies of morons who have no actual qualifications to be giving advice and are generally toxic to attitudes that show genuine concern in their poor methods and outdated western thinking

- Apps are a cancer, "...whose harmful results all statistics brought him new and manifold evidence."
- Reading posts online such as shitposts on bsky or twitter is not actually beneficial for learning
- Please for the love of god, don't use AI
- Language learning are cesspools of misinformation

Important note: Reading and listening are the core activity of real language learning. Doing worksheets, textbook readings, and grammar study are things that are completely inconsequential to effective and rapid language acquisition, immersion is the only real way.

5. Read something that you enjoy. Reading learning slop makes everything a chore that will eventually cause burn outs.

4. Time yourself. A semi-restrictive time limit pushes the mind to stop regression and its perfectionist attitude. The core philosophy behind language acquisition is 'quantity over quality'; constant rereading of sections hurts this rapid flow of information.

3. Read aloud. Reading aloud has many cognitive benefits, most importantly, in mental processing/breaking down sentences. The flow of language is core linguistic information that an author chose to make purposely to aid with understanding.

2. Review and reread large chunks of previously engaged texts. This is ideal for more fully drilling down words previously seen, and understanding possible stuck points. Similarly, don't get stuck. Being stuck is a choice.

General tips for reading comprehension in L2:
1. Do extensive reading. Read and read fluently non-stop for extended periods. You don't need to understand 100%, just keeping continuity and basic comprehension is good enough to get satisfaction out of reading and for optimal language gains

When ever I made some sort of web app and I have to use a framework it just makes me sad because most of the time these projects don't really need this complex reactivity. I just want to use good old JavaScript and some templating engine like handlebars

You should be fine if your views are not associated with your full name and easily accessible.

Even if your full name was on bsky, this platform is way to niche for them to even check but still be careful. Of course you can try and self audit which is a great idea

It doesn't seem like jobs put in that much work to dig into your digital activities. For most companies, all they are looking for is that your identity isn't a possibly controversial figure on something like the top of google.

Shouldn’t css definitions most naturally follow the order of adjectives in English grammar? All we’re doing when we use css is describe how something (hopefully) looks… like an adjective

Happy, May Day is Lei Day in Hawai’i Nei! Whatever you do today, please, enjoy the flowers. Each island has its own flower that represents them. Oahu’s flower is the Ilima. The Big Island is represented by the, Lehua. It’s the first flower to sprout in the ashes after the volcano erupts. 🤙🏼

Did not expect to see ‘Uhaloa and Ilima on the side of the mountain. Combined with an Iwa bird I dont know what else I could have wished for.
Really is just a reminder that you can see the true colors of the land of you take a closer look

NPR says “a free press is the key to a functioning democracy” but if you have to say such a thing to get money doesn’t that imply that neither a free press nor a functioning democracy have ever existed together and democracy depends on a bought out press to channel will into bourgeoisie legislators

The Hawaiian endemic lobeliad, Trematolobelia kaale, growing on the boggy peak of Mt. Ka'ala, Oahu. Being the highest peak of O'ahu it receives significant precipitation, creating a unique insular habitat hosting several rare endemic species adapted to boggy conditions. #nativeplants #hawaii #botany

Even at its conception Utah is the strangest thing. How would I explain to a non-American that a state seen as no different from others is pretty much a holy land for a fringe religious group (and rock climbers lol) and nobody questions it?

Nothing but peak. Western light novel readers should be jealous.

Well, perhaps not because this book doesn't objectify female characters or depict them in weird sexual ways like most light novels tend to do.
