I still love Better Off Dead. It's got its problems, but my kid loved it in his teens when I showed it to him. I still toss the DVD in the player on occasion.

11.08.2025 04:34 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And now we're back to '50s lounge singers.
11.08.2025 04:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And now that I've posted that, The Killers are being played. Bitching into the void apparently does work sometimes.
11.08.2025 04:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Why the hell is every song played over the P.A. system at LAS either the Rat Pack, Elvis, or god awful country? Hey assholes, there are more than just ancient casino dwellers and rednecks going through your airport.
11.08.2025 04:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0My Old Person recommendation is still @greatdismal.bsky.social 's Burning Chrome anthology. I love his style and the prose is compact and very easy to read. If that works, then off to The Sprawl they go. Though this would be for at least teens due to some of the content.
11.08.2025 04:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nope. I finally forced myself to finish them, after years of trying, before the release of FotR, and it was a painful slog. Tolkien needed an editor.
11.08.2025 03:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't do anything beyond simple with electrical or plumbing. One will burn your house down and the other will flood it if you fuck it up, but either way it's far more expensive than paying someone who knows what they're doing.
11.08.2025 02:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One of the things I liked about the initial DCU was the acknowledgement that Diana is demigod, and yeah, she absolutely can hold her own in that fight.

10.08.2025 17:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0DefCon isn't quite what I expected, but it is cool and I'm glad I made it here at least once.
10.08.2025 00:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have that same Lodge griddle. Now I have a project...
08.08.2025 22:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Welcome to DefCon; wait on this line.
07.08.2025 15:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Greetings from Fabulous Las Vegas! At least, that's where the sign said I am, exclamation point and all.
07.08.2025 05:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On my way to DefCon. Maybe I'll see some of you there.
06.08.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And of course, the last bit is a collection of just the shots you want linked to a virtual album that you can export. I do all the cleanup work in the virtual album for the shots I want and then export to a folder that is the JPGs of those edited shots.
27.07.2025 14:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0To clarify, when Evan was in marching band, I'd get a lot of similar shots across a season. So I'd create a collection and link all the similar shots from different performances, create a collection for each kid, etc. This would allow me to compare shots like you're wanting to do.
27.07.2025 14:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I still use Lightroom, so maybe this is unique to it, but does Google allow you to create a collection (virtual album) and link photos to it? That's not really the purpose of that function, but it's one of the ways I use it.
27.07.2025 14:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I mean:
Poster 1: I like pancakes.
Poster 2: OH, SO YOU HATE WAFFLES?!
That came from Twitter. It's far more ubiquitous for some reason, but I learned to ignore tedious people who don't deserve my attention long ago. Or you can just engage in the nuclear option: Bluesky's block.
VW solved this one for me by never getting the updated transceiver. My 2019 was supposed to get an updated 4g/5g component since 3g want just discontinued, but the telcos killed the tech on their towers. Then COVID killed their supply chain. It can't phone home.

05.06.2025 09:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So...my point still stands. The Internet was not public prior to '93. The number of systems and users prior to that was multiple orders of magnitude less, and it was mostly students and researchers. As I stated in an earlier thread Tay deleted, encryption wasn't viable yet either then.
05.06.2025 09:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And how were you getting online? Prior to GHWB signing the bill that opened the Internet to the public in '92, the only ways on were through universities, govt., military, and related telco and computer companies.
