So many are, but they are now insidious and everywhere. It’s like recycling - it’s good when everyone does it, but it’s more impactful when it’s orgs and govs. Amazon runs AWS web services, and that alone… add in things like “libraries just lost a distributor with no replacement” and it is worse.

So my city has been working on burying power lines in areas where lines go down frequently - lots of trees, down hills, and areas that are dangerous for them to repair. It’s expensive and exhaustive, whereas it’s more normalized in new-build ($$$) neighborhoods around here.

What I’ve taken in over the last couple years is that when people have an irrationally outsized emotional response to doing a task,90% of the time it is because they can’t do it — not that they won’t do it. They can’t. And most people will die trying to prove why that’s someone else’s fault.
