Before the Vigil, the Redesigning team throws its own 2025 Hellfire Gala It’s been two years since the last official Hellfire Gala, but the minds of X-fans are still hot with inspiration! The latest season of the hit video game Marvel Rivals has been a love letter to the First Krakoan Age. Emma Frost, with a brand-new costume, haircut and thunder thighs, invited us all to the Hellfire Gala. The game developers wrote a beautiful letter about how much Krakoa and the Hellfire Gala inspired them, and how they wanted to do justice to such an amazing part of comics history.

For this challenge, our artists returned to feelings of joy and hope, bringing fresh, new Hellfire looks to their favorite mutants for 2025.

“Strategic voting” in Canada really lost us some amazing progressive candidates. Fear of conservatives didn’t mean orange ridings needed to go red because many of them ended up blue!

Jean Grey, the X-Man also called Phoenix, is a woman in a green catsuit with long gold gloves and a phoenix insignia on her chest. Her hands trace down her face as flames appear to emerge from her left eye.

I don't want more Sinister, though. The book shines in moments like Bronze realizing Axo is fake and Kate struggling to date. Character-revealing moments. An 80/20 split between everyday life and super-heroics is a good balance for this book. Heck, I could probably go 100% for slice of life

Caught up on Exceptional X-men. I still love the book, especially when it focuses on interpersonal dynamics, but Sinister did not work for me. He was used too much in the last era, often at an enormous scale. Exceptional Sinister was both more of the same and somehow not enough.

All hits, no misses

In a cultural moment that will be remembered for its regression, The Ultimates really stands out for what could be different and better. I’m all in, ride or die for it and in awe of its existence.

FTA seems to want to build up these mutant locations outside of Krakoa and Westchester. It looks like Uncanny is finally getting around to that, and I’m looking forward to more mutant lore, mythology, and history rooted in the so-called human world.

Uncanny is really hitting its stride. Even more Gambit and even more gothic horror? Great direction to go in. The other adult X-men need this Gambit treatment eventually, though. I’m excited to learn more about the history of Haven House.

Storm was horrible as usual. Paper thin plot with absolutely no indication of how Storm feels about the events in the comic. It was great to see Vecchio draw Ororo again, but that writer should move on and write a shonen book more suitable to his (poor) taste. Took 5 seconds to read.
