The issue is that they keep trying rush the two Phoenix arcs and it always ends up a mess. But it is what it is. However it is a loss because as like you said yourself strong woman horror was Chris’ powerhouse which we need more of in movies

Unhinged is exactly the vibe I am looking for in these unlikely situations! In my head they would both get annoyed with each other initially but then it just becomes Maddie hardly supporting Marc’s shenanigans and him obsessing with some ancient relic she has in her embassy

The retcon works by us knowing how good she will become, thus the x men were able to save her from this dark version of herself

As the Chris Claremont tradition goes his original plans won’t be able to come to tuition but will be used in a retcon way to work, in this case his intent was to make Shadowkat an evil foe that would succumb to the shadow king.
