Wood chip ordered ! Nice job for next weekend
24.03.2025 22:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0To start it off do you card board the same as with the beds?
23.03.2025 23:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Great idea. I never liked the idea of boarders but the soil has slumped bridging the gap I left and allowing weed to encroach.
Do you use membrane under you chips or something else?
Good day at the allotment. Finally starting to get it under control.
Planted out some beans and onion.
On reflection I think the no dig beds will definitely need a boarder
Hibernating bumblebee uncovered in soil
If you discover a hibernating bumblebee while digging in your garden or allotment this winter, try to avoid disturbing her, and loosely re-cover her so she can hit the snooze button until spring. More advice from @bumblebeetrust.bsky.social at www.bumblebeeconservation.org

Don't π¬π²π bloody 12o yesterday all day and night ... At the allotment I was in a jumper! In November it's really bloody scary
02.12.2024 11:09 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks, im hoping to avoid needing boarders on them if I can
01.12.2024 23:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve watched some of Charles Dowdingβs video on no dig, he doesnβt seem to think boarders are needed. But to be honest minimising cost was the main driver. I may add them in time.
01.12.2024 23:07 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs lovely stuff. It was a bit of an outlay but hopefully worth it in the long run. Not sure how Iβm going to do the next few as Iβd rather keep buying compost to a minimum
01.12.2024 23:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0First 3 no dig beds added to the allotment. Not sure if they will need borders or not. Just in time to get all of my garlic planted.
30.11.2024 21:32 β π 28 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0Donβt see that every day. What will you use it for?
30.11.2024 18:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Manage to keep the grass trimmed and a bit more under control. I tried digging in a couple of beds over the summer but the ground was so hard the sods wouldnβt break up. Iβve had a go at putting in a couple of no dig beds this month for my garlic

Lots of work to do
Definitely go for it. There will always be a learning curve. This time of year is good, thereβs no rush. Nothing is growing so you have time to plan and thereβs no pressure to get things looking too nice as everything looks drab at this time of year.
27.11.2024 17:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Spending a month on Bluesky has created a whole new model of a fight we need to be having right now. Not liberal vs. conservative or whatever, but respect vs manipulation.
I am tired of being manipulated everywhere I go. Thatβs why I like it here, I feel like Iβm in charge for once.
Was an absolutely fantastic night. Already looking forward to next time
