inflation and price increases are two different phenomena.

An average 10% floor increase with every sale drives up the average price which is reflected in the assessments. It’s obviously not the only reason, but this is getting very tedious, and i’ll mute it now.

this is great, but the bit about reference letters is implausible -- post-doc and other academic applications come with a request for a specific number of rec letters, so while I have no doubt they've become worse due to AI, there is zero reason to believe that there are more of them now.

Ten years from now, when cancer clusters come to Ypsilanti, when our students can no longer read or write, when the University will consist of AI-written papers graded by AI instructors, when the bodies pile up and almost all human connection is lost, everybody will have known.
