During #WeekWithoutDriving it's important to remember that for many, every week is without driving. At least 25% of Detroit adults do not have access to a car. Transit is woefully underfunded. Streets and sidewalks are dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists who have no other choice.

I'm going to wrap up a few papers that I've been waiting to submit (slow federal processes are even slower this year), and focus on some science communication work. I'm not a good social media comms person, but I love starting & finishing writing projects lol

Yeah I need to express my own sadness right now, but also thought it was important to share the hard reality of what many US scientists are facing right now.

I am wondering how much longer I can remain in this career. It's wearing me down. I would need a remote/hybrid position where I wouldn't have to move and I am competing against an ever-growing pool of candidates. A career change seems inevitable at this point.

I'm being laid off next month ... don't have an official end date yet, but I think I'm the only one bc of the grant I was on.

It was cute, our programs manager was so excited that they got the new proposals in w/o any lay offs! ... except for me. I'm already forgotten about!
