Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next. Understand what it is to pray in Chicago. On September 19th, Reverend David Black, lead pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, was praying outside the ICE detention center in Broadview when a DHS agent shot him in the head with pepper balls. Pepper balls are never supposed to be fired at the head because they can seriously injure, or even kill. “We could hear them laughing as they were shooting us from the roof,” Black recalled. He is not the only member of the clergy ICE has assaulted. Chuck Schumer needs to immediately be replaced as Senate Minority Leader, followed by an announcement that he will not be seeking reelection.

So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

In his first term, Trump was surrounded by more traditional Republicans who helped moderate his worst impulses. Those people are all gone now, and it’s only sycophants left, who will do anything he tells them to while simultaneously feeding him misinformation and preying on his stupidity.

This is another reason they’re ok with the shutdown. They can blame their atrocious economy on the shutdown, which in turn they can desperately try to blame on the democrats. Tank the economy while absolving themselves of blame. Same as it ever was.

Just a thought: if you’re going to engage in conversation here, then do so honestly. Don’t reply to someone then immediately block them just so you get the last word. That’s extraordinarily cowardly.

Either have a conversation or don’t.

Over a million votes FOR Mamdani. And yes, an establishment democrat from a political family who refused to drop out was a draw. Name recognition matters. Millions of dollars were poured into Cuomo’s campaign.

Highest voter turnout for mayor in half a century. First NYC mayor to get over a million votes since the 60s. But, sure, it’s the percentages that really matter if they fit your narrative better.

Think back to how you felt a year ago when Trump was reelected.

Now think about how you feel after last night's election.

You volunteered. You went to protests. You didn't check out.

You put in the work required for our democracy — and it's paying off.

Remember this.

I'm ready to canvass for your senate run. I met a lot of people during the primaries who really wanted you in government even if you didn't become mayor.

Our message to Andrew Cuomo was loud & clear in June.

And you should look in the mirror as well. You can do this.

Within the context of everything else in the speech he said leading up to this moment, this just came across as incredibly insincere.

I love how Cuomo just says “No,” as if that word suddenly means something to him.

He’s dying and wants to leave his bloated mark on what he considers to be his own in personal palace. He looked at places like Versailles and instead of seeing it as disgusting opulence while people starved, he just was jealous at how many shiny things they fit into a big room.
