Ack!, well then me too! I just looked and eBird had a Western for me in British Columbia last year. Thanks for this info! I hadn't seen the news.

In confirming what bird was on my Idaho quarter I discovered some fun Google auto-fills. (Peregrine Falcon, but you knew that already.) πŸͺΆ

Isn't that eye weird?! The location is in central Ohio. It's an old quarry, so the water is fairly deep (and obvs fresh-water). Not too much vegetation around the quarry. The spot is known for attracting diving ducks in colder months. πŸͺΆ

It was really really far away and it was the first fun duck of the season so I really wanted to ID it. As always, quantity did not automatically produce quality. πŸͺΆ

Thanks for the input, everyone. (Oh and sorry here are the terrible originals.) It def. had Ruddy Duck vibes from a distance, but the white near the bill confused me. Ring-necked intrigues me, but the white on the tail is confusing. πŸͺΆ

Ok you smartypantses, I’m at a loss on this diving duck. Any ID guesses are appreciated. Location: a quarry lake in central Ohio three days ago. Note: that’s a solid block of white under its tail. (And please don’t say β€œdefinitely a…” or β€œobviously a…”
because that's mean.) Thx in advance. πŸͺΆ

Visited one of the top birding spots in Cleveland (Edgewater Park) but it’s too early for the ducks and gulls so we coped with bagels from Cleveland Bagel Company and coffee from Rising Star Coffee. πŸͺΆ

Many thousands at the anti-authoritarian No Kings protest in Columbus, Ohio, today. The vibe was positive, inclusive, funny, and resolute. Not a lib-terrorist to be seen, though I did see a Peregrine Falcon terrorizing some pigeons! πŸͺΆπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Ha, fine work! And I have one! When I took this (this week) I was excitedβ€”it’s not one but TWO young female Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. And look you can see them! Another small miracle of bird migration. But yeah I guess it’s not gonna make any calendars. πŸͺΆ

Warbler photography is hard and also sometimes very funny.

I thought the highlight of this vid would be the amazing iridescence on the young Wood Duck, but then a special guest came into frame (Pied-billed Grebe!). I’ve had some big misses lately, but, this morning, birding was (yet again) the best thing ever. πŸͺΆ

Fall birding is tough, but we managed to find a few warblers hopping around the trees this morning, including a stunning Yellow-throated Warbler. This was my best pic. Nailed it. #worstbirdpic πŸͺΆ
