Northern Flicker (yellow shafted) in the preening tree. There’s one bare tree on the edge of the Hudson where all kinds of #birds seem to gather to preen.

Yup!! if you zoom in, you can just fairly make out one little black eye and it’s beak pointing upwards

Doesn’t help I’ve never done anything on a normal scale in my life 😂

My bird cook collection includes sibleys north, sibleys field journal, birds of Central Park, comfort of crows, birds though opera glass, advanced birding. (Not in order)

My bird feeding area supplies. I’ll be using city property across from my apartment. There are two other food stations so it’s assumed to be okay 🤷🏻‍♀️

Five months ago I had zero #bird books. Didn’t know what a warbler was.

Okay now that it’s been a few hours since I have seen the photo it’s more well hidden then I recall

Broad winged hawk on a powerline. It had a head turned towards a rooster that was making a lot of noise on a farm. I have a bad feeling it was plotting a farm raid.

Busy Broad Winged Hawk morning. Saw 2 in a couple mile stretch. Here’s the adult. It was making a lot of noise calling to another (possibly the other one we saw, possibly a 3rd!) #birds

Bird migration forecasts show predicted nocturnal migration 3 hours after local sunset and are updated every 6 hours. These forecasts come from models trained on the last 23 years of bird movements in the atmosphere as detected by the US NEXRAD weather surveillance radar network. In these models we use the Global Forecasting System (GFS) to predict suitable conditions for migration occurring three hours after local sunset. These maps also show precipitation forecasts (outlined and shown in grayscale). Note, areas forecast to experience precipitation and bird migration may overlap, and predictions for migration intensity may be highly variable in these locations.

Oh I love them!! I don’t have them in the city but it seems like the juveniles from a few nest spots down the street from my parents have made their way to my parents house and I put out some mealworms I’ve been enjoying this

Common loon mama with 2-3 week old baby. She kept stretching out her back leg that was banded. Dad found a fish, called for them and found them after they returned the call #birds

Still working on things with my Eastern bluebird over here I seem to only be able to go down to the beach and visit him with my hands-free when it’s raining out. Meanwhile, when I’m there with my kids, he’s posing perfectly in the sun 😂 #birds
