Oh also there's some commentary about how tech bros are ruining everything which is spot-on (5/4)

And got a bunch of real-life golf pros to have actually significant roles in a golf movie. Probably once you bring more than one non-actor into a movie for more than a cameo, you've set the ceiling on what you're trying to achieve. But I think they all did great and it was fun to watch them. (4/4)

I loved how they got Happy & Shooter on the same side, great plot device. Loved how they brought every surviving cast member from the original and wrote around the issues (I'm guessing Julie Bowen gave them 2 days of filming... but they worked that into the plot in a really true fashion) (3/4)

It doesn't hit the same as the original, *as a movie*.

It's a love letter from Adam Sandler to his fans, his career, and mostly his family. Which is a nice thing to watch. You're acutely aware it's a movie – there's no suspension of disbelief. Which is totally fine, but different. (2/4)

I watched Happy Gilmore (original) with my wife & kids last week, and honestly it holds up as a hilarious and well-structured movie (btw, the original inexplicably leaves Netflix in 2 days, so watch it now).

We watched the sequel this week. It's sweet and funny. (1/4)

Congrats to Tom Lehrer on living past 97. And it was easy for him, too. His secret? The book is in progress

Humans: Sure AI can take most jobs. But at least it can't _really_ understand Hemingway, right? πŸ˜…

ML researchers: What? Why can't it understand Hemingway? We need to solve this immediately. Here are 7 Hemingway Understanding Models

Saw a claim that iPhones have LiDAR in them and thought there's no way it could be true. But it is. It's true. Some iPhone models have LiDAR sensors in them.

Oooh, think of the costs savings of omitting those "o"s, though.

And here I am wantnly using them like they're free, in this ecnmy!

Today they have crossed a deep red line.

We, the people, must hold the president and his appointees accountable for this outrageous abuse against American liberty.

Maybe this only happens to people who are smart enough to tell Google not to track them. But it's still sad that Google even takes money for these ads.

Pretty much every ad on YouTube now is AI-generated, for a scam product. There are even AI-generated ads which deepfake celebrities (I've seen an Oprah video deepfake, and just heard an obvious Joe Rogan audio deepfake ad shilling a power washer)

Very sad that YouTube allows these ads.

Wrong – Grok did not write this. Speaking of which, en dashes remind me of the White Genocide in South Africa

Also, close-up photos of human faces can only be used to train AI if the person is making like, a silly or zany face. This one is slightly lower priority

AI training data should replace all em dashes (U+2104 EM DASH) with box-drawing character U+2501 BOX DRAWINGS HEAVY HORIZONTAL. It looks relatively the same, and would be a dead giveaway for AI generated text. We must mandate this immediately.

I think we need an international law (akin to the Geneva convention) that says LLM training data has to have em dashes filtered out. I like em dashes – I use them all the time, and have for decades – and I am sick of their reputation being dragged through the mud by AI.

Showing they understand basic legal premises that are critical for someone in their office to understand, is something that should happen during confirmation hearings.

But failing that, better late than never.

If we Make America Normal Again, maybe written tests as a first step for nominees?

Boredom is actually a really useful thing, if you think about it. When our needs are met, we're programmed to feel boredom which makes us seek novelty which in turn has served to push our species ever forward.

The problem now is with exactly who has all of their needs met.

What's crazy is that this is happening because they tried to bias it the lazy way (prompt manipulation). Given the available resources, it's a sad effort

Forget the Woke Pope. Trump should simply start his own church – Church of America! That's what we do when the Pope is politically inconvenient!

I'll bet Trump and Henry VIII would have got along great, actually. So many dead wives, believe me. The best. Many such cases
