In Los Angeles for a wedding and my smarter, prettier half has been ill. She insisted I go do something fun instead of take care of her (preposterous but I agreed), so I checked out the Tar Pits. Neat!

Dr Wife was desperately searching for sheets in the new house while I was finishing up some cleaning at the old apartment and discovered them forgotten in the hall closet. I considered not telling her and just hiding them around the house but decided I actually enjoy being alive right now.

Dr. Wife is unsympathetic to my dread.

I need a fix, man, just like a quick little day hike into the woods, man, you know? Just a little one, bro, I swear, it’ll be quick, just seven or eight hours with no one else and maybe some trees and a river or something, come on man.

The new shop has some interesting options. Nothing happens to me when I flip them, but I can’t help but hope that someone, somewhere is very happy when I do.

Wait, I … messed up. How do I get into it now? (“Carefully” is the answer.)

Frances, my new shop supervisor. His office is the sink and he is not super thrilled by it, I think. However, I presume he is doing a good job because the shop has not yet burned to the ground. It has been two days.

Local nerdery store had one of their big sales last weekend and I picked up a couple @gregstolze.bsky.social specials because a) love this stuff, and b) they were literally waiting for me at the front of the stacks when I arrived.

While the aspect of “owning a home” is nice, I am also really looking forward to focusing on other things again. Like making poor choices in the woods, and writing things, and maybe taking up a new hobby. #MundaneAsHell #photography #OlympicMountains

Also, we’re buying a house (oh holy shit what is happening) and this was one of the last times we visited a property before getting an offer accepted. Not on this property, oddly enough, but still fun.

Dr Wife and I got an Ooni as a wedding present last year and now that the weather has gotten nice again, we’re back on a pizza binge.

Picked up a 360 camera not too long ago and I can’t help but feel that I’m not nearly narcissistic enough for it. Prepare for lots of over-the-shoulder shots.

Dr Wife caught something at work (they mask up and do their best but it’s a hazard of the job) and now I’ve caught a little bit of it (which is a hazard of marriage).

More for posterity than celebration of an original thought because I can’t have been the first to think this: if in the act of creating something, you don’t learn more than is actually necessary to complete the task, then you’ve missed a fundamental element of the process, especially art.

One thought from the long weekend, though unrelated to any of it, really: I think anyone who supports AI art should be shamed with the title of “fake fan” of whatever that “art” is supposed to portray. Band, media, particular IP, someone’s dog, whatever.
