Wordpress, Learning to code, Memes, and whatever else I find interesting
I really wish there was a browser better than Chrome
27.03.2025 14:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What platform do you use for internal communication at your company?
E.G. Slack, Gmail, Discord, Signal, Teams, etcβ¦
Good to know, Iβll give it a watch here eventually π
25.03.2025 13:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Have you had a chance to watch it? Iβve heard itβs underwhelming from a couple buddies but I havenβt seen it yet.
25.03.2025 13:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Totally agree. I switched because I came to realize that elementor was bloated and slowed down the website.
That realization showed me that I wasnβt even using 70% of elementorβs features.
Which begs the question why theyβre there and not some kind of addition for specific situations.
Is the video game development field volatile?
Most recent example I can think of is NetEase firing their US dev team after the wildly successful launch of Marvel Rivals.
Is there an actual strategy here besides reduce margin increase profit
Would love some insight on how this field works.
I appreciate this.
I am currently learning html and css.
My plan is to continue to JS and PHP once I have a solid foundation of the first two.
My main peeve with Gutenberg is driven by my experience in elementor.
When you start in Wordpress, everyone tells you to use beaver builder or elementor. Once you explore Gutenberg, it feels so drought.
Your point of responsiveness is accurate. But I believe I just need more experience with it.
I agree, I mainly use Gutenberg and generate press/blocks in an effort to keep the website quick.
Iβm coming to the understanding that Gutenberg really becomes amazing when you have a good grasp of HTML, CSS, JS. Which Iβm currently learning.
I appreciate this advice.
Iβve spent some time on other builders, mainly Wix and Squarespace and I still remember Weebly when it was mainstream π
A little time in Shopify as well, although not enough to warrant any opinions on the platform.
Thats great! Your experience greatly overshadows mine, any advice for someone who is 2 years into WordPress?
I enjoy working with WP.
Biggest pet peeve right now is how far behind I feel Gutenberg is.
Iβd love a super fleshed out core builder. Which is hopefully what theyβre working towards.
If you have a hashtag with multiple words, write the hashtag in #PascalCase or #camelCase to help users of screen readers. That helps the screen reader to read out the words out individually, rather than trying to read them in one long word.

But the compensation you get compared to the exposure you get can make it difficult for smaller artists to sustainably make music.
So diversifying may be necessary, which is why all these other ways of monetizing are important.
None are perfect
Fair enough.
I suppose itβs a mix of meeting your listeners where they are and using what allows you to keep making music consistently.
Vinyls had a comeback last year.
So even that avenue is still viable.
The more options the better.
Nice! I started in social media but began picking up small website design jobs.
Eventually the website work became more sustainable and I decided to delve into WordPress specifically.
What did you do before the agency? Freelance work? In-house?
There are also a ton more indie bands than ever before.
Many not being recognized. Although, I have no clue what the ratio is π
I imagine Spotify is great for potential awareness of your music but not advantageous for consistent earnings.
Stream to own is a very interesting concept.
Although not inherently a bad thing, it promotes releasing more as it should diminish your recurring earnings over a long period of time.
Once your main listener base owns your discography, you wonβt get many earnings after that.
This is super interesting. Iβve never been around the music industry from a distribution perspective.
I love to see all the different solutions that people are coming up with.
Itβll be interesting to see where the populous moves in the next decades.
How did you begin growing your agency? I just posted about developers have a tough time marketing themselves.
Would love to hear your insight/experience!
Thatβs fun! I started in social media but began learning and taking on more website projects as they came my way.
After learning 4 different platforms mildly, figured Iβd delve into one. Chose WordPress.
Interesting. Is it trying to compete with music streaming in a way? Or a parallel tool for private collections.
The documentation speaks as if its goal is to change how music is listened to and shared.
3. Staying active on social media.
Previously on Twitter, I would hang around communities where people needed advice on web development.
Giving out free advice is time consuming but important to build reputation among your target market.
2. Attending events outside of my industry.
Meeting other developers is useful. But meeting potential clients is crucial.
1. Attending events inside the industry.
There are so many different types of developers.
Building relationships with an app developer may yield work for me, a web developer.
Or vice versa.
In my experience, freelance developers have a tough time marketing themselves.
What are some things youβve done to market yourself (developer or not)?
Iβll startβ¦
That sounds interesting. I donβt know a ton about faircamp, so would love to know more.
What gave you the idea?
Thatβs so awesome!
How did you get started??
Alright, I appreciate the insight!

How long have you had your WordPress agency?
Thatβs exciting! What advice do you have for someone just getting into the WO security world?
