Update on Ed: They did an influenza test (one of the longer ones because the rapid ones throw a false negative about 10% of the time) and have confirmed he has influenza. They are keeping him one more night in the hospital because sometimes a bacterial infection piggybacks on influenza.

Ed was admitted to the hospital last night (well, very early this morning because it was after midnight!). He was actually breathing better but his blood oxygen was low 89% and wouldn't come up until they put him on an O2 canula.

I've been at the ER for nearly 6 hours with my husband. He's more or less OK now, which is to say that all kinds of tests came back negative. His blood pressure was too high, though, and his blood oxygen was too low. They've given him IV meds that are helping, so I hope we can go home soon.

I used Schachenmayr Regia 8-ply. It's 75% superwash wool and 25% polyamide. I don't know whether they make it anymore l, though. I had gotten a bag of five 150g balls from Little Knits (they're on line) some years ago. Good luck!

My husband's feet are Size 12! I used an 8-ply sock yarn on US 4 needles and it took more than 150g of the yarn!

I knit a pair of thick socks for my husband for Valentine's Day. He loves them!
