While assholes are shitting on SNAP recipients, it’s worth saying out loud that government safety nets in this country are fucking shit. SNAP does not fully cover the costs most families need for a well rounded diet. Surviving is not thriving, and we have the money to spare.

If anything, SNAP under supports families according to this data.

What I just learned, I learned against my will. 😭

I think one of the more frustrating things about American politics is just how exhausting it is, because the average American isn't engaged in any meaningful way and thinks of politics as this sort of nebulous *thing* that doesn't have any tangible meaning.

That's because the American Dream is built on the very idea that if you have an unbelievable amount of money, you must have earned it, because otherwise you wouldn't have it. This is also why poor people are morally awful pieces of shit. You wouldn't be poor if you didn't deserve it.

People want to believe that good people can vote for Trump, but that good person is good*. The * is that they are only a good person under very specific circumstances with very specific kinds of people who meet their very specific qualifications to treat with goodness. The rest is just... malice.

I can't fathom why, in 2025, we're still getting articles like this as if any of this is a surprise. "Surely they can't be as repugnant as I believe! It must just be that I'm excluding *them*!" Yes. You are, because they're fucking repugnant.
