You have to convince people that a strike would make a difference, when all evidence seems to be to the contrary, and that if they stick their necks out everyone else will do so too. Asking people to lose their jobs for what might just be a one day news story is tough.

Americans don't know how to do this, there is no tradition of general strikes here and many people don't really know what one is. They can literally lose their jobs and not be able to feed their families.

In the App/website today (Sun) the story didn't even appear in the "Today" section that most people see. Had to dig to find it. And:

No mention of spewing shit on the crowd.

Better to meet the team, with the person they report to, otherwise it seems like you're trying to divide and conquer. I recall at an organization I worked for the new President had weekly no-agenda lunches with different departments in his first few months. I think that's better.

Always a high risk endeavor. You should always assume they are looking for people to fire and you have no idea what their criteria are. Nobody should be blunt unless willing to dress it up in Bari Weiss buzzwords like "heterodox" and "illiberal" and "uncomfortable truths".
