The one thing with a paid upgrade is that all of the current paid upgrades for old games I'm aware of add content of some kind. So they'd probably also need to add like some new quests and maybe rare blades or something, which just further increases a lot of costs associated with it.

Yeah, for some it's probably just habitual. Like you go into any dub, or really anything for that matter, looking for flaws and reasons to hate it, and you'll find it and never like it.

I've always thought a big part of dub hate is people first seeing subs, and then when the character dub has a different sounding voice your brain tells you "no this is wrong, they're not supposed to sound like that" and you instinctively automatically have a subconscious negative bias against it.

I feel the same way. I usually only hear about livestreamers when there's some controversy and people talk about how they're really popular.

For players it makes no difference, unless they want to undo progress with the full release or something. Any complaints from both players and staff can be addressed with "it's not finished, still in beta." Functionally no difference. At least in the article they admit it was unfinished.

I still remember some conservative friend of my mom's who was talking about poorer people complaining about the minimum wage and argued that they should just start their own businesses, and refusing to acknowledge that that isn't something someone living paycheck to paycheck can do.

I think the conservatives in my family grew up pretty wealthy and as such don't really see the value of aid systems. A lot of it seems to be a "Well I made it without gov aid" and just ignoring support they may have otherwise gotten.

I've always thought it sounds so selfish, like it was framed as "when you're young and poor, you want free stuff. But when you're older and have money, you don't want the government taking it." But it just sounds like projecting and justifying selfishness of opportunities.

Microsoft closing studios makes me think back to Touchstone Pictures where there was a story that part of why it closed was because Disney found they could make more money by pouring everything into massive franchise blockbusters. I wonder if Microsoft is thinking the same.

I wonder if the same effect could be achieved with just having a bunch of complex systems in a game with no UI or tutorials so that the player naturally forgets after a break. Granted they'd probably just end up looking things up.

Is this going to be like that one game from the mid 2000s that had a TV show premier alongside it and like the events of the show would affect stuff in the game and vice versa. I forget the name but I know it didn't really work out. If anyone know what I'm talking about please tell me.
