Yeah I know what you mean, but unless pre-registered there is no way to tell how many hypotheses they tested! You would have to take their word for it! Without knowing that p-values get meaningless…

Have them make a statement on whether they have reported all evaluated hypotheses and demand that they clearly state that this is exploratory work from the beginning. Alternatively they can do a pre-registered replication or have a pre-dating preregistration.
