In our latest study with Bahar Öz, we explored how individuals’ own sex roles and perceived driving skills relate to stereotypes about female and male drivers. Understanding these perceptions is key to addressing bias, promoting gender equity in mobility, and improving road safety for everyone.

Our findings show that it's not just the level of risk perception that matters - how we attribute crashes also plays a key role in this relationship.

• The study identified variations in the willingness to use across different countries and factors.
• Technology affinity, perceived driving skills, and traffic climate perception are related to willingness to use.
Highlights
• A cross-country online survey was undertaken to investigate the willingness to use conditionally automated driving systems.
• The survey data from eight countries and 7896 participants were examined.
We found that users’ technology affinity, perceived driving skills, and traffic climate all play a key role in how willing they are to use ADS, and these relationships vary quite across countries 🌍
Big thanks to amazing Esko Lehtonen, Ruth Madigan, Yee Mun Lee, Elina Aittoniemi, and Natasha Merat!
