Rivers in dry landscapes are absorbing more CO2 than we thought according to new @science.org paper led by Taylor Maavara of @caryinstitute.bsky.social + School of Geography @universityofleeds.bsky.social. Under certain conditions, rivers can even act as carbon sinks.

Really excited about this project. Nimna is undertaking the molecular work in my lab as part of her MBiol research at @universityofleeds.bsky.social. It's a pleasure to have the chance to mentor such a motivated young researcher. Can't wait to see the results. ๐งช๐งฌ๐ #eDNA @bioscienceleeds.bsky.social
