I was wondering if by making the original colour palatte the colours of my sky/dust, could I then paint in the greyscale, and it would fix itself? I just worry I am missing fundamental colour knowledge here.

Even worse is I feel my original thumbnail sketch I decided on, actually looked better tbh. Esp atmospherically with the big guy in the back!
He felt more massive and far away.
Anyway, I appreciate any guidance. I just really want to gift my partner art that's even a smidge close to MTG worthy.

When I try to do the foreground dust it blends in with the background clouds. My clouds are also muddying the more I play with the colour. I can paint cloud forms etc, but the colours are what is stumping me. I dont know how to separate the dust from the clouds and also keep atmospheric perspective.

I have a sky lit with a pinkish orange light.... my clouds range from purples blues and pinks along with the light highlighting them. I also have 'dust/debris' I'm trying to add in between the layers of slivers to create depth and create the illusion of a larger army without drawing each individual.

Yep! I'll be curious who can identify what cards they are~

set of illustrations for custom proxy sliver cards. Image is mostly templates and planning. Six sliver cards in two rows with 3 in each row. Ordered respectively: overlord, first, queen, gravemother, hivelord, legion.

First time trying to do something quite like this... Need to get this done in a very short time. Wish me luck! Hopefully my partner will like it!

I feel I would be less frustrated if it was just in general, a popularity thing. Where it's bought out because people are genuinely happy with their collectable or played with their collectable. But people who only buy them to spin lucrative profits... Just really gets to me

So I wanted to get my SO the Sliver Swarm commander deck as a birthday present (December baby). The deck released only a little over 2 months ago... its already unattainable. Shops tell me people just come in and buy them all up on release.
