It’s an exaggeration, but my experience of clothes from the cheap shops was they wore out quickly, getting small holes from the slightest friction or tire at the seams, often in the wash. Worth the £3 in a pinch maybe but not much life in them.

T-shirts are fast fashion and come from Primark or H&M. Wash them once and they just fall apart. No hope of making it to a thrift store.
