I think it means even more coming from this particular ranger too, he doesn’t express much emotion but I could tell it had a meaningful impact on him!

I just had a ranger at Wind Cave say how nice it was to get a thoughtful email the other day “I don’t need anything from you, just wanted to let you know I care…”

Lydia has a heart of gold, and is so dedicated to NPS. She is an amazing ranger and even better person. Watching friends lose their jobs is gut wrenching 😭🤬I’m glad news outlets are sharing her story

My best pal in the neighborhood. She swears she doesn’t eat any songbirds or small mammals…. We have many things in common like often being covered in dirt and leaves

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns.

100% of his salary is paid by WA state.

Elon fired him. Share his story.

Have not kept up with my nature journaling this week (because chaos and governmental collapse…) but I took a John Muir Laws “Sketching Birds” class to make up. This is why it’s a learned skill 😅, looking forward to practicing with feeder friends 🐦💚

A tan National Park Service ranger hat with a black band rests on a wooden surface, slightly out of focus. Overlaid on the image is a quote from Stephen Mather, the first director of the National Park Service, titled "SEND A RANGER." If a trail is to be blazed, it is "send a ranger." If an animal is floundering in the snow, a ranger is sent to pull him out; if a bear is in the hotel, if a fire threatens a forest, if someone is to be saved, it is "send a ranger." If a Dude wants to know the why of Nature's ways, if a Sagebrusher is puzzled about a road, his first thought is, "ask a ranger." Everything the ranger knows, he will tell you, except about himself.

The Black Hills Parks & Forests Association logo appears in the bottom right corner.

For over a century, when the land called, a ranger answered.

- Protecting "America’s Best Idea" with #NationalParks.
- "Caring for the Land & Serving People" with USFS.
- As stewards, guides, firefighters, educators, & guardians of our shared heritage.

This week, thousands were abruptly let go. 🧵

Elon musk isn’t elected.

He’s a Nazi nepo baby who breaks everything he touches.

And right now he’s locked himself in a room with grandpa’s Social Security check.

A Chapter In U.S. History Often Ignored: The Flight Of Runaway Slaves To Mexico As the U.S. Treasury considers putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill to honor her role in the northbound underground railroad, new attention is being paid to the often overlooked southbound route.

Most escaped enslaved people went to Canada, but some went to Mexico.

"In Mexico, you could be free. They didn't care what color you was — black, white, yellow or blue. Hundreds of slaves did go to Mexico and got on all right."
