Am I missing something? I curate my timeline by choosing who I follow. Why would I want to follow more people just so that they can swamp my timeline with stuff that I have no interest in?

If people want my inane burblings clogging up their timeline, they can follow me. Is that not how it works?

It was arrived at by trial and error. They started by shooting the feet but discovered that impeded the goose-stepping, then they tried the arms but that affected their ability to salute. Apparently, the head was the only place they could shoot with little effect.

That will be an unwelcome surprise for Lady B... 🫣

Yup. Usually with fewer rights and less job security, possibly overseas. Money that may otherwise have gone towards in-house employees instead end up in some faceless shareholder's offshore bank account.

Going back to what I was saying yesterday, this is more about "allies" using the conflict as a marker of their own identity than it is about the Palestinian/Muslim/Israeli/Jewish communities themselves.

I'm happy to be corrected if you know otherwise but the Palestinian protests and mourning have not been particularly focused on the specific date whereas, anyone on the Israeli side never fails to mention it. I think that's why it feels provocative to me.

Personally, the partisan distrust between the 2 sides makes it feel deliberately provocative. That may not have been the intent, but it's tin-eared if not.

7th October was not the commencement of the Israeli offensive. It is the date of the Hamas attack. Granted, it has become the date that stuck in the public consciousness but that's why choosing the 8th is actually very good comms, it nearly makes the point that the Israeli attack happened after...

I see the Irish are organising for tomorrow, to me choosing that date seems both more respectful and more powerful because there's no question of any deliberate antagonism to muddy the waters.

Separate the Jewish community for a moment. The whole conversation ignores the 7th October families as much as it does the Palestinians. All the people doing the talking are using their respective victims as fodder for whatever argument they want to make.

It is. I'm still working my way through the back catalogue though. It's not like the current affairs ones which date pretty quickly so I am just slowly working my way through from the beginning. About a year behind at the moment.
