I worry that the focus on NOAA's weather predicting value is ignoring the millions of other ways NOAA researchers enrich communities and local economies.

Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, once famously bragged that the takeover of Canada, starting with the province of Quebec, would be “a mere matter of marching.” Yeah, well -- seafood is different.
