A few years ago I learned America has a thing called Trunk or Treat where people dress up, drive to a parking lot, and pretend it's ok we don't have walkable communities anymore.

Historic preservation is confusing. In Seattle, we conferred permanent landmark status to a Walgreenโ€™s drive-thru.

Trolleybuses pull power directly into efficient, hill-climbing engines without need for massive, pavement-crushing batteries. Next gen trolleys with in-motion charging offer significant off-wire travel, allowing incremental wire extension. SF and Seattle partnering:

Over 60 cyclists pass on this side of the street in under 30 seconds. And their flow only stops because the traffic light turned red.

An efficiency impossible to match if these people were driving.

Can I just say that @seattledot.bsky.social sets a standard for government transparency by posting their entire 51-page org chart on the web? Other departments need to follow their lead.

Forget EVs. Cycling is revolutionising transport Pedal power is booming, spinning up a new culture war

"Though robotaxis have notched up impressive growth, they look ploddingly pedestrian compared with far zippier pedal-powered rivals. [Waymo] proudly proclaims that its cars do around 250k trips a week. Yet in NYC alone that number of trips is made every three days using the cityโ€™s bikeshare scheme."

Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine just told the board's rider experience committee that East Link has officially entered the system integration phase.

That means you'll see single trains with up to four cars operating across the I-90 bridge "intermittently."

A self-driving car traffic jam is coming for US cities ๏ปฟA century ago, cars remade America. Autonomous vehicles could do it again.

As autonomous vehicles spread across the US, they could turn urban streets into a congested, chaotic mess. But itโ€™s not inevitable.

In @vox.com, I proposed specific ways cities can future-proof themselves for self-driving cars.

Frequent transit is necessary for an accessible city thatโ€™s serious about its climate goals. Letโ€™s make that a reality.

Time to build those Beach Drive bike lanes (theyโ€™re in the Seattle Transportation Plan). This pickup truck driver makes a very strong case for them.

Met a ruddy-faced gentleman at Alki who had pulled over his pickup truck to wait to inform the bf and I that it was "horrible" we didn't ride single file on Beach Drive, and that we were "fucking idiots" who would "get killed eventually" by a driver for "taking up the whole goddamn road."
