As Labour open their annual conference, Iβd be interested if anyone can share Ministers/MPsβ views on further expanding UK airport capacity; expansion that's incompatible with UK climate commitments, not to mention increased volume & frequency of aviation noise! climateuncensored.com/gatwick-expa...

This really is just the start
By 2040, almost one third of the world's cropland will suffer severe drought every year
Just imagine the colossal impact on yields and food supply

Nearly half of Brits think climate change wonβt affect them.
15,000 scientists warn of societal collapse.
This gulf in perception is why weβre staging the National Emergency Briefing on the #climate & #nature crisis.
Perhaps the Labour Party will pull back from CCS at their conferencE. Itβs a devious distraction by the oil and gas industryβ¦.

If we are lucky, and we transition, before we destabilise, then weβll actually be able to have a good giggle at the Trumpian rhetoricβ¦

In the late 19th century, millions of migrants left Germany as a result of religious persecution, economic hardship, and political uncertainty.
Among them was Nikolaus Schrod, a cabinet maker from Frankfurt who - along with his wife Bina - moved to London to start a new life in the 1850s. 1/3
Is your MP attending the National Emergency Briefing on the #climate and #nature crisis?
We can rise to the challenge, but only if properly informed on the latest threats and solutions.
Please help by contacting your MP.
It only takes a few minutesπ

Finally a briefing of MPs on the climate crisis!
Please call for your MP to attend.
It's vital that MPs not only understand the threat, solutions & urgency, but that they have publicly been informed and can't say they didn't know.
Will do. And please see your X dm for my ask about the National Emergency Briefing @nebriefing.bsky.social

This is an event for MPβs and decision makers, the people who urgently need to be briefed on all aspects of the crisis. We will be making a film of the event which will be rolled out nationally.

The current administration has claimed renewables are making the grid less reliable. If that were the case, I'd expect states adding the most renewables over the past decade to have the largest increase in outages.
However, the opposite seems to be true!
This is infuriating. What is the point of a Marine Protected Area if trawlers are allowed to keep ploughing it?
Yet again, the government has succumbed to commercial lobbying.

Have also quit flying unless when absolutely necessary, so taken 3 return flights in the last 6 or so years. Going back on a plane reinforced how awful the experience is!

Diet change. By shifting to a plant rich diet we free up land, like Dartmoor, to be returned to nature. If we give farmers subsidy support for plant agriculture or nature restoration (for Dartmoor) then everyone's a winner!
Great piece on this here theconversation.com/by-changing-...
I think more of us need to start wrapping our heads around living in a world where it's not a given that we can pop to the shops and grab some #food...
Civil unrest lies not far beyond that.
But changing our diets can help avoid this nightmare scenario.
