I would disagree. We need to be fighting for something not just against something. Fighting just against something without anything that we are fighting for just enables reactionary action that only feeds fascist framing. Yes, we need to fight fascism it is urgent, but why we fight is important.

I'm missing stuff in there a lot but at least I can recognize that (and I do see some details that I know everyone in my bubble missed due to one of my special interest), it's frustrating that fandoms as a whole usually miss that they're missing stuff

I think it was very much empty nostalgia. Why are we highlighting 60s sexism when we could tell a story about modern sexism? There is enough of it. The speech by Celia was about how important TOS was for kids in the 60s/70s - but it didn’t make me inspired by what SNW has to say to kids today.

I do enjoy watching snw in general but it often feels kinda empty, lacking substance and some, uhm, trekness?

So you get episodes like the Flesh and Blood where The Doctor literally has to say to Janeway's face that she's being prejudiced all by himself. You get Author, Author which is about how people in power fundamentally do not see marginalized people as capable of making "good" art or any art.

Please, can we stop doing prequels? Star Trek should be boldly going - not become a franchise about playing with our favorite scifi action figures & stories that have a destined predetermined outcome. Trek is about how the future is what we make it, not inevitable nor empty nostalgia.

My biggest problem with Strange New Worlds, especially this season - is how much it just feels like the writers getting to play with their favorite Trek toys and not bothering to say ANYTHING in regards to the modern day. It feels hollow and relying on nostalgia for meaning.
