I love Nog but I didn't care for the whole Red Squad thing that was the subject of so much of what he had to say about his time at the academy on DS9.

And they did the same damn thing for covid in 2020! Like surely this sheet of plexiglass suspended from the ceiling will inhibit the spread of an airborne virus.

I'm old enough to remember when you'd go into a restaurant and the first thing they'd say was "smoking or non" as if cigarette smoke would stay on one side of an enclosed space. The cultural shift on tobacco use over my lifetime is really remarkable and I don't think it could be replicated today.

But Tig Notaro's presence is a big plus and I'm intrigued by the Klingon-Jem'Hadar professor they teased a few months ago

Yeah absolutely - PIC overall was a huge disappointment but I really liked a couple of the new characters and a few of the developments the series made.

I'm going into this with not much in the way of expectation and generally positive vibes. The most recent ad was discouraging though.

Having to identify oneself as disabled to access accommodations is, on its own, a huge barrier to getting many disabled people the accommodations they need.

Yeah, like, I enjoy a good coming-of-age story. Being about or even for teenagers isn't really the issue. But I'm not interested in stories about the romantic lives of conventionally attractive cis-hets and that's what I'm getting from this poster.

Look I'm gonna watch it but if this ad is any indication I'm gonna complain the whole time.

I feel like what's special about Tucker Carlson is his uncanny ability to contort his face into expressions that look both bewildered and indignant at the same time, by which he's captured the zeitgeist of the conservative movement.

One of my favorite things about Voyager-era Seven is how she hadn't internalized the rank hierarchy that Starfleet operates under. I didn't like seeing Picard-era Seven suppress her sense of what was right out of respect for that hierarchy.

But the name she identifies with is Seven of Nine, not Annika Hansen. It's the identity she consciously claimed, and Shaw doesn't respect that. That's Shaw's issue but her response is hers.

I just don't think Voyager-era Seven would accept that the way Picard-era Seven does.

Enby isn't the wrong terminology but she was a woman in a society where nonbinary was the norm.

While we're on the subject Barclay's creation of an AI simulacrum of a coworker / his therapist for incel purposes was wildly mishandled by his superiors.

Maybe that wasn't the right word but I really really disliked the way the writers had her put up with being deadnamed by her captain and when he finally stopped it felt like they were going for an audience reaction that for me wasn't earned.
