04.02.2026 00:14 — 👍 23 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0That's funny because I'm seeing community care. I am seeing more and more people coming together to stand up for each other. I'm seeing people who don't have to choosing to put their bodies on the line for strangers. I'm seeing people donating to stop people from being evicted./1

I've been working for the last 10 days to set up an Etsy shop. I'm launching it now. Two things in this shop are 100% for Minnesota relief - the Bird of Protection mug and the Dragons Against Ice sticker. The other two mugs are for general happiness.

Karen is an amazing editor. 😍
So glad to see the whole anthology on the list.
Republicans redistricted to win five new seats in Texas. All five are projected to be between R+4 and R+8. To achieve this, they diluted their advantage in other districts.
A 15-point swing in November wipes out Republican control of the state. A 30-point swing erases Republicans in Texas entirely.
The Locus recommended list is out with some wonderful wonderful works on it. Congrats to spouseperson @bogiperson.bsky.social for having a SF novel on it! And a story. Song of Spores is great!
My "Other Wars Elsewhere" is there too, the only story I had out in 2025!

“We’re blowing the whistles and so ICE will go away and our friends can come back,” she said.
I started sobbing uncontrollably.
ahhh thank you (and yes... inspired by life)

He will be buying groceries this Friday. $350 will finish covering their food needs for the week; if he raises more he will buy TP/laundry detergent. Venmo: Edward-Burke-MSP.

The Purim grager -- used ritually to drown out the name of a villain
Kazoo -- economical, many people already have one
Pots and pans -- already in use
Tuba -- my great-aunt's favorite instrument, LORGE, can they ban the whole band?
A BIGGER WHISTLE
Just a periodical reminder that defeatism is a form of surrender to tyranny.
27.01.2026 22:37 — 👍 34 🔁 6 💬 0 📌 0ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives.
We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.
Every social theory undergirding Trumpism has been broken on the steel of Minnesotan resolve. The multiracial community in Minneapolis was supposed to shatter. It did not. It held until Bovino was forced out of the Twin Cities with his long coat between his legs. The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive—because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about “Western civilization,” while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I have been reliably informed by members of this government that losing access to twitter is one of the worst things that can befall a human being so this may be the single harshest consequence they have imposed on one of their own
