Three old guys stand together for a photo at a football tailgater, trying to recapute their lost youth.
First time the three of us were together in one place in...way, way, way too long. Great to spend some quality time with Ken Devlin and the chronically offline Dan Murray today before the Irish dispatched NC State.

If a post says "Robert Plant did something at a concert in Nashville last night" and you discover Robert Plant is actually performing in Europe this month, you're dealing with AI slop.
Know, before you post. You can help improve the discourse by not sharing. 5/5

Before you repost or reshare, do a quick google search. If you can't find an outfit you know sharing the story of some public figure doing something like what the piece you're thinking about sharing describes, you're likely dealing with AI slop. /4

2) They use a variation of the phrase "In that moment, X did Y" somewhere toward the climax of the story. That's a formulation a lot of AI generated posts wind up using.
3) This one is a dead giveaway: AI generated art accompanying the post rather than a real photograph.

Some are easy to spot-- they involve people doing things that seem very out of character for those folks if you are a fan, or even have a passing knowledge of them. Others may be hard to spot. Here's three quick tips for spotting them:
1) They link to a story on a website you've never heard of.

A reminder from your Friend Who Does Social Media for a Living: There is more AI slop out there than ever. In just the last few weeks I've seen posts claiming Peyton Manning, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, Metallica & Itzhak Perlman all did things that they did not do. /1

While my commute pretty much necessitates a car, I have been trying to get out and walk more regularly. Went and got bagels at Balsam Bagels Saturday morning and had nice 28-minute round trip walk instead of hopping in the car. Enjoyed the stroll through North Winton Village.

It's pretty awesome to be able to stop worrying about thoughts like "Wow, did the cost of gas go up AGAIN?" I have a plug-in hybrid RAV4 and I keep a "gas book" of my fill-
ups (a habit I picked up from my parents). It's fun to look back at all the times I've gone months between having to gas up.
