The second day of the #EuPA2025 conference in Saint-Malo was packed with activities for our MPC members!
Katalin and Svitlana presented their posters, which covered:
1) the use of proteomics in forensic investigations of crime scenes, and
β’ Katrin was chosen as the most popular female lecturer in the winter semester 2024/2025.
So we just keep going and look forward to many students who find their way to the MPC and experience the joy of research with us!
BUT β we are very proud of ourselves because
β’ we manage to inspire more and more students for MPC by offering research-related internship positions.
β’ the Chemistry lecture in the winter semester 2024/2025 was the most popular lecture in medical studies (chosen by students of the first semester).
Prof. Dr. Katrin Marcus-Alic has even been coordinating the Chemistry lecture in the first semester of Human Medicine for more than 10 years. Honestly, it must be said that Chemistry and Biochemistry are not necessarily among the favorite subjects of medical students.

Installed in May 2019, last week we celebrated the 6th birthday of our incredible Orbitrap Fusion Lumos mass spectrometer. This makes it our oldest instrument in terms of those used for global proteomics studies.
Together, they provide a robust and reliable platform that continues to drive our lipidomics research forward.

The QExHF delivers high-resolutionβessential for distinguishing closely related lipid speciesβwhile the Triversa Nanomate, our chip-based nanoESI source, ensures stable sample delivery, low cross-contamination, and efficient ionization.

This flexibility allows us to tailor our methods and ensures we achieve accurate, reliable results. When paired with the Nanomate, the system has become an important part of our daily research.

Our institute first welcomed the Thermo Q Exactive HF mass spectrometer back in 2015. At the time, it was a major step forward for our proteomics work, and it quickly became a cornerstone of many successful projects.
Here we enjoy state-of-the-art equipment and would like to introduce our laboratory to you today in a short video. However, some things have already changed again, especially with regard to the number and type of our mass spectrometers, which we will present in further posts. So stay tuned.
