Today, Year 1 became real life environmental heroes today! This was a lovely end point inspired by our English text ‘Stella and the Seagull’ by Georgina Stevens. They organised their own ‘litter picking party’ to clean up their local area. ♻️🗑️

Our EEF Research Trial is well underway and this week, we're shining a spotlight on St. Martin & St. Mary School, Windermere! ✨ On Monday, Year 3 & 4 launched their new #LiteracyTree text in spectacular style - a circus extravaganza complete with costumes, tickets... and popcorn! 🍿

Our Year 6s have been learning how to write informal letters, using punctuation lighten their tone of writing ✍️ Using inspiration from the book ‘The Windrush Child’ they wrote letters as Leonard to his father. Then, they published their work. What great teaching sequence @literacytree.bsky.social

Year 6s @brunswickparkps.bsky.social have been reading the book ‘The Windrush Child’ and through it studied key events of the Windrush generation. They used these to create timelines in English lessons. @literacytree.bsky.social

Our Year 6s absolutely loved the @literacytree.bsky.social writing sequence “Can we save the tiger?” They wrote persuasive speeches to her peers, trying to convince their audience to act immediately and support the tigers, before it’s too late 🐅🐯

We were thrilled to see Flower Block win the 2025 Wainwright Prize for Children's Book of the Year! 🌻💛

When we reviewed Flower Block over a year ago, we knew it was special. A year on, our Resource Team have created a Whole School Writing Root, supporting teachers to teach through this joyful text.
