It’s #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek in Scotland this week and in the rest of the UK next week. As a dyslexic reader myself I wanted to use #KidsBooksFriday this week to celebrate brilliant, accessible and super-readable texts of all kinds.

Seeing @karlduke8.bsky.social post about early reading has made me reflect. I was lucky my parents read & we visited the library. As well as Roald Dahl, I loved the Animal Ark and Goosebumps series & had ALL of them. I then read Point Horror in my teens.

You have some of my favourites there. Basically anything by Hannah Gold. I also LOVE I am Rebel- it’s definitely the best animal themed book I’ve read in a while.

I loved The Whisperwicks books and The Chronicles of Whetherwhy. They are in different worlds though rather than weaved into ours. These look great!
