Pete Buttigieg Doubles Down on Comments About the β€œFairness” of Trans People in Sports β€œI think in order to bring people together on this, we also have to take everyone seriously."

Yeah, I'm never voting for Buttigieg even if he's the nominee. This is a bright line for me. You cave on trans issues and lend credence to bigots, it's over. I'm not letting the Dems go down the path of Labour.

Agree here too, I stopped using Amazon but my partner can only find some of her necessary supplements there and nowhere else (since Amazon has gobbled up so many smaller storefronts), so we minimize but we can't fully quit, and I'm OK with that.

Wholeheartedly agree.

The Windows 10 deprecation makes this a bit of a freebie. If you can tolerate Linux on a desktop or laptop, Windows 10 -> Linux seems like a reasonable transition. I'm going to try it in September and see how it goes.

In the Future All Food Will Be Cooked in a Microwave, and if You Can’t Deal With That Then You Need to Get Out of the Kitchen As a restaurant owner – I’m astounded at the rate of progress since microwaves were released a few short years ago. We’ve discovered a literal miracle with almost unlimited potential and it’s being scrapped for *no reason whatsoever*. This isn’t even nihilism, it’s outright worship of death and human suffering.

Thats not to say there haven't been growing pains. When a great steak comes out of the microwave I get really excited.
But more than half the steaks that come out of the microwave get sent back by the customer. To solve this problem I now run ten microwaves in parallel cooking ten steaks. One out of the ten steaks will most likely be good. The number of microwaves has required me to upgrade my restaurant's electrical system and I now have a small nuclear reactor installed in
the parking lot.

So Long to Tech’s Dream Job

@greyoctagon.bsky.social and I spoke to @kateconger.com about the bottoms-up to top-down culture change at Google, and how executives are using the threat of job loss to force us to work on AI that they intend to use to replace our jobs.

(it's not ready yet! but that future is coming.)

Opposition Party Decides to Oppose Today on TAP: Democrats are fighting in Washington and Austin, denying quick victories to authoritarians.

-Schumer wouldn't advance Trump noms without an end to illegal withholding of federal funds,so Senate Rs left town
-Trump couldn't do recess appointments because House Dems would force an Epstein vote if Rs returned to adjourn
-Texas Dems fled the state to deny Rs a quorum
Is our Democrats learning?

What's going on with Trump's economy?

- Inflation is up.
- People are worried about finding a job.
- Groceries are getting more expensive.

No matter how hard he tries, Trump can’t distract from his broken promise to lower costs on β€œDay One.”

If I huff fumes and gaze into the void I can *create* meaning out of this.

- It *is* wild that "larp your culture for tourism $$" is an industry as old as original recipe Rome.

- It *is* fucked up that the gulf states seem to spend most of their money building ever-larger malls with slave labor.

When the cryptocurrency entrepreneur Eric Schiermeyer heard that President Trump was holding small group dinners with major donors, he saw opportunity.
Mr. Schiermeyer reached out to a lobbyist with connections in Mr. Trump’s orbit, who arranged for him to attend a dinner with the president at his private Mar-a-Lago club on March 1 in exchange for donations to a pro-Trump PAC called MAGA Inc. totaling $1 million.
The personal and corporate donations were among dozens of seven- and eight-figure contributions to MAGA Inc. from crypto and other interests revealed in a campaign finance filing on Thursday night that hinted at the access Mr. Trump accords those willing to pay.
At the dinner, Mr. Schiermeyer, who had never given a federal political donation before, presented an idea for a cryptocurrency called β€œU.S.A. Cryptocurrency interests, which have benefited from the Trump administration’s dismantling of a yearslong government crackdown and from the Trump family’s financial interest in the industry, appear to have been the most generous industry, accounting for nearly $45 million in donations to MAGA Inc.An affiliate of the exchange Crypto.com gave $10 million, while the crypto services company Blockchain.com donated $5 million. The venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, who are heavily invested in crypto, gave $3 million each. Ondo Finance, which has a partnership with the Trump family’s crypto company, donated $2.1 million to MAGA Inc., on top of $1 million to Mr. Trump’s inauguration.

The scale of Trump's pay-for-access scheme outlined by the @nytimes.com is mindblowing. Crypto contributions resulting in business deals with the Trump family crypto businesses, oil companies buying influence and later reaping benefits from friendly policies, and a $1 million pardon.
