Great opening line for today: "It was the time of year when people leave their windows open." from @tyler-m.bsky.social 's "The Familiar Dark", an overall stunning story from the collection My Prisoner and Other Stories.

From a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I made this trip for research on my novel, Sasha the Witch. A number of art works made it into the novel, including these. On the left is "In the Loge" Mary Cassat (1878) and on the right is "Helen Spears" John Singer Sargent (1895). Both photos by me.

Self-publishing is cool as hell and I am always happy when authors at any stage in their career follow me, but please spread the word in your writing communities: you're shooting yourself in the foot and severely limiting your potential audience by slapping that AI trash on your book covers.
