Switzerland just released Apertus, a completely open AI model. Not just "open weights" but everythingβtraining data, process, code. While other nations race to build AI, the Swiss are redefining what "national AI" means... π§΅

Here's the thing about AI -- think of it as a new intern who's read EVERYTHING, but has no practical knowledge. They really want to please you and will not admit that they don't know the answer to something -- if they don't know they'll make something up that sounds good.

22.07.2025 13:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tedious to point this out, but:
- When a tongue-tied Biden said "President of Mexico" instead of "Prez of Egypt," it was a several day story.
-Hours after Trump says whoever appointed J Powell made a big mistake (it was him), the episode appears not to merit a story on any national-media sites.
I've noticed this problem myself -- And in real life I'd guess it's worse than in these tests. I often get bored and distracted while waiting for the AI response and get caught up in other things, which just slows things down more.

(Democratic) Presidents, via the Dept of Education, can't cancel student debt because statutes don't clearly authorize it.
Republican Presidents can cancel/shut down the Dept of Education because, even though only Congress can shut down departments ..., ... π€·ββοΈ YOLO?
This is patently false.
DHS has authority to question and search people coming into the country at points of entry.
But ICE may not detain and question anyone without reasonable suspicion β and certainly not based on their physical appearance alone.
This lawlessness must stop.

10.07.2025 08:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Infographic titled βOne Court, Two Standardsβ compares how the Supreme Court used emergency powers to rule on lower-court injunctions against the Biden and Trump administrations. Two panels show: β’ Biden Administration: Lower courts blocked policies in 21 cases. All 21 cases are represented by red squares, indicating that 0% of injunctions/TROs were lifted by SCOTUS. β’ Trump Administration: Lower courts blocked policies in 86 cases. 66 green squares and 20 red squares show that 77% of injunctions/TROs were lifted by SCOTUS. Key takeaway box below reads: βUsing its βshadow docket,β the Supreme Court granted emergency relief to lift 77% of lower-court injunctions against the Trump administration. It lifted 0% of those against the Biden administration.β Sources and notes below include: CourtListener data through July 7, 2025; analysis by Adam Bonica.
The Supreme Courtβs βshadow docketβ has cast very different shadows depending on which party holds the White House.
When lower courts blocked Trump admin policies, SCOTUS intervened on an emergency basis to lift those orders in 77% of cases.
For the Biden administration, that number was 0%.
