Turning off Memories has made a substantial improvement for me.
17.08.2025 12:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If a student submitted that to me as their reasoning and answer, I would believe they were thinking. I see nothing here which convinces me the models are using language to world-model and create outputs in any meaningfully way different than I do.
19.07.2025 22:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I do not believe that to be correct based upon what I have ready about how they work (mostly via TheZvi) and my own personal experience using them, but I'm open to changing my mind if you can provide evidence to support your claim.
18.07.2025 00:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I think you have not used current-gen AI with chain-of-thought reasoning models.
17.07.2025 23:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That analogy would mean the AI is doing creative writing, not lying.
17.07.2025 23:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is where the confusion comes in regularly regarding AI. It is not programmed. AI is not 'designed' in the way you are using that word. Describing specific errors as "lying" is easy but wrong, which is why people who understand this better than you do write about it differently than you.
17.07.2025 23:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0But the US is actually 4% of the world population, although middle- and upper-income white people are 15% of the US population โฆ. oh.
23.06.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If Iโm understanding this correctly, privatizing Social Security would change it from group risk to individual risk, is that correct?
23.06.2025 22:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Making this a candlestick chart would make it even more obvious.
13.06.2025 12:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Now do the chart showing changes against disposable income.
12.06.2025 20:38 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Perhaps itโs because they donโt know theyโre broligarchs - they think theyโre average bros, just special.
21.05.2025 23:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What is stopping them from just requesting a 24 hour extension every 24 hours? It seems like the judges are extremely handicapped by this specific need to appear existentially unbiased.
19.03.2025 19:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I donโt want journalists to tell me two people are arguing about whether itโs raining and report on both sides in an equal and unbiased way. I want them to look out the damn window and tell me whatโs actually happening and who is lying about it.
19.03.2025 09:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you for putting succinctly what I have been trying to conceptualize.
10.02.2025 02:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I take credit for that cocktail. Dirty martini, quite good. Photo credit to Hilary.
10.02.2025 00:34 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Best explanation: bsky.app/profile/carl...
08.02.2025 01:19 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Okay, thank you. Previous comments were much lower indirect rates. This makes more sense.
08.02.2025 00:37 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was just using that figure because it's a round number, not as a specific measure of a grant. I could have easily used 1MM or 10MM to achieve the same percentages.
08.02.2025 00:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Please help me understand that math. If $100k base-line grant previously had a +50% indirect costs, that's $150k total. Now it's $115k total, which is a ~23% reduction. (I did the math wrong the first time to come to 18%)
08.02.2025 00:32 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0So if I'm understanding this correctly, this type of federal government-funded research just individually all took ~18% hit?
08.02.2025 00:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Can someone help me understand the implications of this, please?
08.02.2025 00:13 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0I live in Kentucky. Only 30% of the population here voted for Trump. The 70% of our populationwho did not vote for him is also going to suffer.

In the US, beverage alcohol is the last human consumable without allergen warnings or nutrition facts (or ingredient listings). Hopefully this is progress toward changing that. #bourbon #distilled
It could actually happen. Weโll just have to see. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
07.12.2024 23:25 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Fortunately it wonโt impact the event weโll be having in February.
07.12.2024 23:19 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can see the intent behind that law, it wow can I see implementation problems. Not sure as a person I would want a clerk to open my just-purchased bottle? ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
07.12.2024 23:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thatโs the line for the KY Bourbon Festival Early Friday
13.09.2024 15:41 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Maybe a Madeira-soaked cherry for the garnish?
06.01.2024 02:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Malt Scotch, either blended or single, preferably initially matured in an ex-Jack Danielโs barrels (not a Jim Beam barrel). Still thinking about the garnish.
06.01.2024 02:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yep, us too until we got our awesome two-oven setup.
