Exploring Brancott’s Low ABV Sauvignon Blanc We have posted two wine reviews during January this year, so clearly we did not participate in Dry January. We do have an appreciation for wines with lower alcohol, however, and it factors significantly in the wines we choose to drink. Some critics will say balance is more important than ABV and don't list ABV in their reviews, but both are equally important to me.

Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Late Release 2015: Artistry on the Label and in the Bottle Our wine year is beginning in a delicious way with the tasting of a late release Sangiovese. Not just any Sangiovese, but a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano crafted responsibly by a winery that takes its social commitments as seriously as its commitment to biodiversity and healthy soils. And the Avignonesi Nobile di Montepulciano Late Release 2015 wine bottle label, and packaging, is as beautifully artistic as is the wine.

Pale lemon in color with a golden hue.

Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Off dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing lemons, apples, pears, minerals, light herbs, sea salt and light honey notes.

Medium finish with limes and sweet apples.

This is a very tasty Riesling from Washington State. Crisp and refreshing, and better when properly chilled.

Nicely balanced, easy drinking and better than I expected.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and good for parties or the pool.

12% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

A wine writer writes about wine writers writing about wine writing.

I’m old enough to remember when wine writers just wrote about wine. It may sound naive now but it worked really well back then.

The Wall Street Journal today laid off a number of staffers, including Lettie Teague, their wine columnist of 16 years. I’d guess they’re not planning to hire anyone new to fill the slot.
I feel so bad for Lettie, who is minted from solid gold. 🌟

Have been prepping for Tirage of ‘25 sparkling over the last month. So much barrel work in the cellar. Also needed to make 300 more gallons of a Chard base dosage liquor so the “Big Mixer” was rolled out. It is most impressive in action as it dissolves 795kg of sugar in 632 liters of wine.

Line 39 Wines: Sustainable Wines from O’Neill Vintners & Distillers Today we’re tasting two wines made by O’Neill Vintners & Distillers. Line 39 is a value range of wines, both wines in our tasting today retail for $11, that carry the California appellation. We received both wines as tasting samples. The world’s major winemaking regions lie between 30° and 50° latitude north and south of the equator. This is where growing conditions are most favorable to growing grapes and inspired the name of the Line 39 wines.
