It is cold here, I can't imagine how bad it is in Wisconsin, not to mention further north. But the Spring is coming, ever so slowly.

A Green Heron is perched on a branch with it's back to the camera displaying it's beautiful green and blue feathers. The background in the picture is a green and yellowish blur of summer foliage colors.

A brilliant yellow songbird stares directly at the camera. Only one of its eyes and some head and chest feathers are in crisp focus.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme of “eye contact” has me immediately thinking of songbird banding sessions I’ve sat in on at Oak Hammock Marsh, Manitoba. Every captured bird gives its own variation of stink-eye while data is collected. This yellow warbler is saying it’s got places to be – dammit. #birds
