i tried to articulate this for like 2 hours, im dying girl its complicated

ygo cant even grapple with the label of control deck anymore. in EVERY deck you try to interrupt your opponent so they cant build a strong board, or play around their board to get a chance to build your own. most good decks are combo and the decks that lean more control-y are often just combo lite

luca my daughter its been so long

i dont play it i just collect cards, but digimon's memory system is cool as hell. i wouldnt recommend a bandai tcg to my worst enemy though. ygo is the one i play but per your other reply you probably wouldnt vibe. its more about identifying chokepoints in a combo than resource management

like i love sa2 shadow too but i will miss my brooding and violent and extremely manipulable little guy

the amnesiac shadow's story is perhaps not as compelling as sa2 shadow's, but his struggle was just erased like he himself was nothing and didnt matter at all

but in shadow gens the vibe is "his memories are back and now hes the same person as the shadow from sa2" and it makes me sad

he is pulled in every direction by the memories he recovers and is influenced by all of them across every route. in the true ending however, he discards his connection to black doom in the same way his discards his connection to maria. maria is just another ghost to the amnesiac shadow

tldr shadow in shadow 05 saw maria, gerald, black doom, and tower the same way. they were all people from "shadow's" past trying to tell him who he is when he, the amnesiac shadow, didnt want to be haunted by the echoes of the old him's past

im so mixed on the direction theyre taking shadow in shadow gens, man they sure didnt interpret shadow 05 the same way as me and its a little sad to me
