The tragic landslide in Blatten gives me the excuse to tell you the story of how we found out Ice Ages existed. It's a cool story and the most important bit is rather similar to what's happening now.

Petit thread d’explications. ⬇️

🚨 REPLICATION REPORT UPDATE: One year ago, a tweet by John Holbein alerted me, @ollefolke.bsky.social, and @jopieboy.bsky.social to a paper with a shocking result about Sweden’s law criminalizing the purchase of sex.🧵

The tariffs are mad; but what’s equally mad is that they somehow come as a surprise, when Trump has campaigned non-stop on this and controls all branches of government
Precious time has been lost, but it’s not too late for countries to mount an effective response 1/x

Gender gaps and stereotypes in @LeMondeFr #2
To capture stereotypes, we look at the verbs used to introduce women vs men quotes. The results speak for themselves: in the articles, women tend to 'whisper' (4x more likely🤯), 'recount' or 'smile'. Men 'mock', 'declare' & 'predict'
