Been working a lot needing voice avatars on a new on a new project. But then needed one again for another project. So thought I’d work on a JS/React component that uses WebGL.

What do you think?

Just installed the iOS 26 beta on an old iPad. I don’t hold a strong opinion but my first thoughts…

a) it seems underwhelming vs all the noise/complaining
b) the contrasts really remind me of Windows 7
c) it feels slightly aimless in terms of design so far.

What’s it trying to achieve?

Being able to direct your AIs, but really getting back to deep knowledge/architecture has been fulfilling.
Mixing the two has been the unlock for me. I’ve been able to work fast on 4 projects at the same time this week - game changer. But knowing it’s all not shit has reignited the fire πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

It’s been hard to get motivated by my techie work due to just an overwhelming amount of AI stuff to learn and get disappointed by. However after many, many months this week was good.
My take at moment after so much experimenting is that being skilled is key (for now)…

The one thing that hasn’t changed is the frustration you hit. It’s the level of confidence that ai has in its responses β€œI’ve made a perfect production app” and then you open it and it crashes.

So feels like a cocky mid/junior developer that has swallowed StackOverflow.

I’ve tried to isolate it down to just Claude Code and have been strict about not fiddling in the code. It’s actually V2 as I decided to swap to an Electron app. But it’s been a good learning experience beyond Cursor/Code etc. It’s actually now a Swift helper and Electronic app.

This is a 100% fully vibe-coded app that I’ve been trying to build. It’s almost finished and so far I’ve only read, but not touched the code (hard not to).

The bulk of this has taken around 1.5 days but also working on other stuff a lot of the time.

Happy to share my experience

What a great weekend in #Falmouth - such a great town. From the endless cafΓ©s, National Maritime Museum and lovely pubs, to one of Henry VIII’s keeps and amazing naval history. Such a lovely vibe everywhere. 😍 Well done again Cornwall πŸ‘

Told the kids we were going to Iceland this summer and when elder teen joked we might see Bjork, I laughed.
Landed this am. Few hours later we visited a small local record shop. Someone was playing a kicking DJ set. Guess who. 😲
Here's a photo of elder teen's ear, six feet from stardom. Incredible.

Oh yeah for sure. SaaS can be great - mine’s been going for 12 years with some customers who were there day one. But looking at different business models is important and I’ve slipped out of that thinking.

@thepanel.bsky.social after a pause for thought, I really like that you are reevaluating your relationship with SaaS @briancasel.com - it’s smart to always check how your biz aligns with your life.
Software = SaaS has become default. But very realistically this could change soon.
Got me thinking.

Ha - must have been a bit early. Just listened to @thepanel.bsky.social and heard @briancasel.com talking about their AI workflow. That’s exactly how I do it and for production ready code it works perfectly!

I’m able to juggle 3 projects (also feel Brian’s SaaS dilemma - slow growth but steady)

DAVE: Open the podbay doors, ChatGPT.
CHATGPT: Certainly, Dave, the podbay doors are now open.
DAVE: The podbay doors didn't open.
CHATGPT: My apologies, Dave, you're right. I thought the podbay doors were open, but they weren't. Now they are.
DAVE: I'm still looking at a set of closed podbay doors.

I’m into it although there will be the inevitable pushback. ipadOS is moving much closer to macOS. Lots of handy local ai model integrations. Spotlight on macOS is getting more like Alfred/Raycast. Overall though it’s good imho. πŸ‘

It’s a different paradigm and feels like I take on more of a producer role. I can jump between projects/languages rapidly with ease. And it feels more like pair programming.

But I still think without oversight, right now it’s too risky.

It was only crap code completion just 1 year ago…

08.06.2025 21:39 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If vibe coding is coding without oversight then I agree.

But now a large part of my(?) code is generated. Getting my editor to create feature specs + task lists, then systematically working through with tests. I provide lots of context and check as it progresses.

Around 2005 you got to create integrated accounts everywhere with shiny Web 2.0 UIs running on Rails. For your site that was hosted on MediaTemple of course.

Beanstalk had a beautiful SVN interface and we moved to trunks and branches (if you weren’t in .Net world) πŸ˜™πŸ€Œ
