03.08.2025 19:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The text editor could use some work and there are some quality of life things that folks take for granted that arenβt here (I seem to lose keyboard shortcut capabilities when I switch windows), but this is impressive work for a FOSS tool. Great start.
03.08.2025 19:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Example of the pipeline style non-destructive editing capabilities of PixlEditor.
I want to point out the non-destructive editing capabilities are really fascinating.
03.08.2025 19:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think that itβs mostly benefiting from not being tied to as much cruft as other tools are.
03.08.2025 19:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I donβt think itβs there yet. Its interface feels intuitive to me but it seems to be less road-blocky for former Photoshop users than GIMP often is.
There are some obvious things the setup is missing right now (holding shift to straighten, for example) but the non-destructive editing is interesting
It also has a lot of procedural stuff in itβthink Yahoo Pipes or a similar graphical programming tool.
03.08.2025 18:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm impressed. It is genuinely nice to have a Photoshop-like editor that doesnβt have 30 years of cruft baked into it.
03.08.2025 18:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If I was doing pixel art this would probably be even better.
No Flatpak but I was able to whip up a distrobox thing and it runs great
OK, this looks super promising. Itβs not 100% perfect yetβI just tested loading an animated GIF and it did not load the animationβbut long-term, this is a potential suitor to the FOSS Photoshop crown.

Part of this was how they built. Rather than building something lightweight like Craigslist, they built CareerBuilder, a successful company, but nowhere near as paradigm-shifting as Craigslist.

Already, the shape of the company is shifting. The firm has reduced its head count from about 45,000 people in 2023 to 40,000 through layoffs and attrition, in part to correct for an aggressive pandemic hiring spree. It has since also rolled out roughly 12,000 AI agents. βDo I think that this is existential for our profession? Yes, I do,β said Kate Smaje, a senior partner Sternfels tapped to lead the firmβs AI efforts earlier this year. But, βI think itβs an existential good for us.β
McKinsey believing from its board of directors on down that the current state of AI is existential to its business says far more about McKinsey than it does about AI lol apple.news/A8FLn2BPeRP6...

We got there day of, so we were WAAAY back in line, way around the block.
What I remember from that day: A guy in a suit pulling up in a van to sell us $5 pizzas. We were also handed bottles of water and (for some reason) small boxes of Raisin Bran Crunch. No milk.

There it is! The guy who jumped over the cage. 37:33 in.
