The text editor could use some work and there are some quality of life things that folks take for granted that aren’t here (I seem to lose keyboard shortcut capabilities when I switch windows), but this is impressive work for a FOSS tool. Great start.

I want to point out the non-destructive editing capabilities are really fascinating.

I think that it’s mostly benefiting from not being tied to as much cruft as other tools are.

I don’t think it’s there yet. Its interface feels intuitive to me but it seems to be less road-blocky for former Photoshop users than GIMP often is.

There are some obvious things the setup is missing right now (holding shift to straighten, for example) but the non-destructive editing is interesting

It also has a lot of procedural stuff in it—think Yahoo Pipes or a similar graphical programming tool.

I’m impressed. It is genuinely nice to have a Photoshop-like editor that doesn’t have 30 years of cruft baked into it.

If I was doing pixel art this would probably be even better.

OK, this looks super promising. It’s not 100% perfect yet—I just tested loading an animated GIF and it did not load the animation—but long-term, this is a potential suitor to the FOSS Photoshop crown.

Part of this was how they built. Rather than building something lightweight like Craigslist, they built CareerBuilder, a successful company, but nowhere near as paradigm-shifting as Craigslist.

I consider it an essential feature, personally. But that's because I went the other direction (I now run Linux).

I don’t even like Limp Bizkit that much. I was there because it was a free show sponsored by Napster, and you only live once.

The crazy thing they did at this show was they had this insane cage that people inevitably tried to climb. I remember vividly that someone managed to get over the cage and was immediately kicked out. It's showed somewhere in this MTV clip
