those are completely opposite. A progressive believes that people can & should be compelled to help their community. a liberal views personal liberty/freedom as the most important aspect, meaning they reject compelled policy.

true, I was referring to America specifically. the child died in this case so I think it will only serve to solidify that opinion in America. 7 is too young. It's unfair to put that responsibility on the shoulders of a 10yr old. if they were with an equal peer who is also 10 itd be safer.

I think it's more likely an issue of "parenting while black. but the average person would consider it negligent to let a 10yr old watch a 7yr old. that said, when a child drowns in a pool due to negligence I've never really heard of the parents being arrested/charged.
